An eventful time for the four-piece
It's been a topsy-turvy time for Spanish outfit Deers, who have today announced not only an Australian tour, but that they have changed their band name to Hinds.
Let's start with the name change first, shall we? The band came under pressure from lawyers acting on behalf of an unamed band in Canada who have a similar name to Deers, as first reported by NME. Several media outlets have since reported that the unamed band is Dears, though this has yet to be confirmed.
"This is sadly the most official post we've ever made: We have to change our name. We mean…they force us to," the band's statement to NME read.
"We received an email from a Canadian lawyer saying that our name created confusion with his band's name. And that name is not even Deers (LOL). We tried our best, really, but we have no choice."
