SoSo Hit #1 On The Australian Albums Chart Following Discount Plan, Dedicated Campaign

SoSo, a pop-punk band hailing from Sydney, have done the unthinkable: hit #1 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart as a completely independent group.
In addition to getting to #1 on the Australian Albums Chart, they also reached #2 on the Vinyl Chart and #4 on the overall albums chart.
The massive feat comes after the band launched a wild discount plan in the lead-up to the release of their debut album, So Much For Second Chances.
In August, SoSo fans could pre-order a signed CD copy of the album for 67% off, cutting the price down to $9.99. If they were pre-ordering the vinyl, they could score the album for 28% off – that’s $39.95. If that wasn’t enough, the band were also offering free shipping.
At the time, the band claimed that despite their achievements, including having dedicated fans, self-releasing two EPs, supporting Yours Truly on the road, over 7.5 million streams on Spotify, and playing on TV series such as Home and Away, they were ignored by the Australian music industry.
SoSo say they’ve been “overlooked for support slots, ignored by radio,” and “shut out of every major festival.”

They added, “No matter how hard we hustle, the industry pretends we don’t exist. We’re used to it. No complaints – we’re the underdogs. If it’s gonna happen for us, it’s because we make it happen. Because YOU support us, even when they won’t.”
The dream of taking over the ARIA Charts has been “ambitious yet data-backed,” according to a press release. With thousands of pre-orders locked in ahead of the album’s release last Friday (21 November), SoSo have done it. They remarked last week, “We’ve only got a shot at this thanks to fans like you guys who support us so much.”
In a video posted to social media yesterday (28 November), SoSo thanked their fans for getting them so high on the ARIA Charts and topping the Australian Albums Chart. They captioned the video:
