"We have zero tolerance policy to illicit drug use at Secret Garden."
Secret Garden Festival has responded to reports from police that five punters were treated for suspected drug overdoses at this past weekend's event.
A media released published by NSW police today reports that as well as the suspected overdoses, 44 people were ejected for intoxication and eight for under-age drinking.
36 detections for prohibited drugs including MDMA, LSD, cocaine, mushrooms and cannabis were also reported.
A statement given to The Music today by organisers reads, "We have a zero tolerance policy to illicit drug use at Secret Garden.

"We tell our patrons that they should never take that risk and warn them of police presence. We work very closely with NSW police on both drug and alcohol management plans, which operated very well over the weekend. A small number of patrons decided to take risks despite our warnings and festival policy, and five patrons who had an adverse reaction to an unknown substance were treated on-site and no ambulances or further medical treatment was required.
"We adopt multiple measures to ensure Secret Garden is a safe environment for all patrons and staff, including registered medics and a dedicated medical tent to ensure the wellbeing of our patrons.
"Additionally, there are designated 'chill out' areas throughout the festival site, clearly marked free water refill taps stationed throughout the site, and the Secret Garden Care Team roaming the festival. In addition, there are free alcohol breath-testing stations set up in the camp grounds.
"For the most part we are very proud of our patronage this year. They were very respectful of each other and the festival rules."
