Massive news for the popular publication.

After 27 years, South Australia's longest-running music and entertainment publication Rip It Up has announced it will be ceasing all operations this month.

Founded in 1989 as a gig guide for Adelaide music fans, Rip It Up went on to become one of the most beloved music publications in the state.

Online Editor Walter Marsh confirmed the news in a statement yesterday, citing lack of digital revenue as the reason for the publication folding.

"Rip It Up’s publisher Opinion Media will continue to serve our audience in South Australia and beyond through The Adelaide ReviewClique Mag and events such as A Night Of Fashion and Hot 100 Wines SA, which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary," the statement reads.

"Moving forward, we’ll be incorporating our continuing coverage of the state’s music and arts scene into adelaidereview.com.au and cliquemag.com.auand over the next month will reveal the new online home of the much-loved gig guide that started it all. We’ll see you there.

"On behalf of Rip It Up I’d like to thank every contributor and team member past and present who helped make this publication what it is. And of course our readers, who for nearly three decades have sought Rip It Up out in pubs, cafés or more recently on their smartphones."
