Rolf Harris Cleared Of Indecent Assault Charges Due To Hung Jury

The Australian entertainer had pleaded not guilty to all four charges

Rolf Harris has walked free from a retrial over four charges of indecent assault after the jury was unable to reach a verdict.

As the ABC reports, the 87-year-old entertainer will not face a third retrial over the claims, which contested that he had indecently assaulted three teenage girls aged under 16 several decades ago.

He is, however, set to appeal his previous conviction on 12 counts of indecent assault, for which he was sentenced to almost six years' jail, half non-custodial.

Harris had previously indicated that he had abandoned his plans to appeal those convictions.

The jury considered the case for just under five hours on Friday, the group — comprising seven women and five men — ultimately unable to reach the necessary 10-2 majority consensus for a verdict to be delivered.
