The Mexican virtuosos are set to tear the house down
Guitar gods Rodrigo y Gabriela are heading to Sydney, with the Sydney Opera House set firmly in their sights. Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero have taken their speed metal roots and translated it onto the acoustic guitar, creating what has been called an “Incendiary blend of metal-inspired riffing, jazz dexterity and Latin rhythm”.
Hailed as "One of those acts you have to see to believe", Rodrigo y Gabriela have performed at the White House, collaborated with the likes of Metallica, Testament and Rage Against The Machine and recorded with Hans Zimmer for the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack.
Appearing with the duo in Sydney will be composing legend Alex Wilson, who worked as musical director on Rodrigo y Gabriela's latest album Area 52, and will collaborate on stage with them lending his talents as a jazz pianist.
While in the country Rodriigo y Gabriela will also be appearing at Southbound Festival and Falls Festival.
