As we gear up to party at beachside reggae extravaganza Island Vibe Festival, organisers have unveiled their sustainability initiatives for 2016 to ensure we're having a blast while still looking out for our environment.

The three-day festival, which takes place on North Stradbroke Island in Moreton Bay, will have a solar powered stage (the Coconut Lounge stage) this year in conjunction with Southern Cross University, to showcase the creative and innovative solutions available as an alternative to traditional diesel generators. Not only is it great for the environment, but it's also eye-catching, in a flower-shaped sculpture.

The festival are also doing their part to reduce carbon emissions created from patrons travelling to and from the festival, off the back of studies that saw up to 80% of festival emissions are from patrons travelling in cars. They're launching Cycle Vibe, a program to encourage bike riding to festivals, with luggage transport options available, access to priority camping spots, supervised bicycle parking, secure lock-up and heaps more.

The October festival features acts such as NZ's Soulware, New York City's The 4'20 Sound featuring Jamalski, Tiki Taane, Bobby Alu, Nattali Rize of Blue King Brown, to name a few.
