Radio Birdman's Deniz Tek To Tour New Album

13 February 2013 | 1:27 pm | Dan Condon

He has a run of shows with Wollongong's Leadfinger planned over the next few weeks.

As if being a founding member of and chief songwriter behind one of Australia's greatest ever garage rock bands Radio Birdman wasn't enough, over the past couple of decades Deniz Tek has proven that he's much more than that.

He's a doctor, he worked as a Navy surgeon (his nickname The Iceman was appropriated for the film Top Gun) and most importantly, he's released a shitload of incredible music with New Race, The Visitors, with The Deniz Tek Group and as a solo artist.

This legendary guitarist has a new LP out by the name of Detroit and it's his first solo album in over a decade and he's heading out on the road in support of it.

Joining him on the road will be Leadfinger, the brainchild of Stewart Cunningham of bands such as the Proton Energy Pills, Asteroid B-612, Brother Brick, Challenger 7 and The Yes-Men. Leadfinger has a new record out - No Room At The Inn - the fourth LP released since the project became an active concern.
