Tame Impala are having a big day...
A few more acts have been added on to the Pyramid Rock festival bill this afternoon, boosting what was already looking like a pretty strong line-up for those of us who like fine indie-rock, electro, hip hop and hardcore and don't discriminate too much between genres.
New acts listed below!
TAME IMPALA:
Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter
As Lonerism, the second record from Perth psych lads Tame Impala, dropped around the world this past couple of weeks, so did the jaws of thousands of critics and general music lovers around the world. This band proved their chops with Innerspeaker a couple of years back, but have blown all past efforts out of the water with this new record which is attracting rave reviews left, right and centre. The band have a busy summer ahead of them as they look to play shows at every festival they possibly can. Bring it on!
ASTA:
This young Tasmanian lady is the latest artist to have received a bit of a nudge from the national youth broadcaster's Unearthed initiative and now we all wait with baited breath to see whether Asta is ready to back up her initial success on the live stage. It's an exciting time.
BENI:
One of Australia's most revered DJs and producers currently active on the scene, Beni has produced some killer electro tunes in his time and got many a party jumping with his super fun tunes. Given that he has had a bunch of shit released on the cooler than cool Kitsune label, there is a kind of inherent guarantee that he is making some real fun music, you'll be able to see for yourself when he drops massive track after massive track at Pyramid Rock this time around.
LOS CORONAS:
This Spanish surf rock group are renowned for putting their own surfy spin on classic tunes from throughout the ages. Los Coronas are going to be the perfect band to watch as you hang out in another perfect Australian summer, drinking a beer, thinking about all the sick pits you're gonna get right up inside in the forthcoming year, while having a dance, a laugh and a sing-along with your finest friends.
MY SECRET CIRCUS:
You might not know them by name just yet, but there's a good chance you've already heard the music of My Secret Circus at some stage over the past year or so. They performed the theme song for Max's Muscle TV and wrote and recorded the theme song for Australia's biggest mixed martial arts sport The CFC. Okay, so if you're not into that stuff then you mightn't have heard them, but you will soon enough as they're surely going places and Pyramid Rock is a logical step on the way to the big time for the lads.
The festival is happening at Phillip Island from Saturday 29 December to Tuesday 1 January; tickets are available through the festival's website right now.
