Power Pick 27/07/26: Jem Cassar-Daley - 'All I'm Thinking About'

The Music chooses one song every week as its Power Pick, shining a light on ONE Aussie song that we think has the potential to be the next big Australian chart hit.

It’s hard to believe that Jem Cassar-Daley has already achieved such a mesmerising and impressive career in just five short years.

With plenty of name recognition thanks to father Troy, Cassar-Daley’s 2021 debut brought with it plenty of positive press. Her debut EP I Don't Know Who To Call found a widespread audience, and following countless airplay, awards, and acclaim, Cassar-Daley just last week announced the release of her debut album, tattoos used to come off in the pool.

Set for release on August 28th, she paired its announcement with the release of her latest single, All I'm Thinking About, another fine example of what has managed to make her one of the most commanding figures in local music at the current time.

“This song was inspired by finding out about your partner’s ex and wanting to know more about them,” Cassar-Daley explained. “Wondering how and why they broke up, going for a little stalk of their insta and developing a bit of an obsession.

“I wrote this song with Shannen James and Michael De Lorenzis (Msquared) and we had so much fun in the session! I’ve always wanted to write a song with a monotonous and driving chorus melody so it was awesome to make that dream come true.”

Cassar-Daley will also be kicking off an album launch tour in September, with tickets available now, and details found below.

CHART UPDATE

There’s not a whole lot of change at the top end of the Radio Monitor Hot 100 chart. While Taylor Swift and Alex Warren swap spots at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, on the local front, Josh Fawaz’s rework of Madonna’s Like A Prayer holds steady at No. 3. It appears as though Fawaz’s recent admission of AI usage in the track has not yet affected airplay.

G Flip's Bed On Fire rises two spots to No. 6, while Sonny Fodera’s Let Me Be In Your Arms jumps 18 positions to No. 11, as his other big single, Think About Us, re-enters the top 20 at No. 18.

Tame Impala's Dracula falls out of the top 20 for the first time in a long time, hitting No. 24. Sadly, that’s where most of the local representation ends for a while, with the next Aussie found by way of The Kid LAROI’s Girls at No. 43.

He’s in fine company, however, with Delta Goodrem’s Hologram falling ten spots to No. 44, and DMA’S’ Killing Time jumping 18 spots to No. 45.

Amy Shark’s The Biggest Dick follows at No. 46, while Becca Hatch closes out Aussies in the top 50 with Daylight Robbery at No. 49.

It’s a relatively similar story on the ARIA charts this week, with just two homegrown cuts in the top 50. That includes Tame Impala’s Dracula holding still at No. 9, and G Flip’s Bed On Fire falling six spots to No. 43.
