The Music chooses one song every week as its Power Pick, shining a light on ONE Aussie song that we think has the potential to be the next big Australian chart hit.

Our Power Pick committee consists of Richard Kingsmill (consultant and former triple j Group Music Director), Maddy Rowe (Nova nights announcer), Nic Kelly (Hit Network nights announcer), Ash McGregor (host of Listen Up with Ash McGregor), Kent “Smallzy” Small (Host of ‘The Smallzy Show’ on the Kiis Network), Irene Hulme (radio consultant and host of Game Changers Radio podcast), Matty Morris (Super Radio Network nights announcer) and Matt O’Gorman (Triple M Homegrown host).

If there’s one thing that Aussie music fans can continuously count on, it’s new dancefloor-ready club bangers from FISHER. This year alone, he’s already released three stellar cuts, including Rain, Favour, and now, his latest, What A Life.

A collaboration with Austrian musician Florence Arman on vocals, What A Life harnesses that classic FISHER energy with thick beats, slick melodies, and a killer hook thanks to Arman’s voice.

If the song sounds a little bit familiar, then you might have been lucky enough to catch FISHER as he trots around the globe, dropping the song into some of his sets, including the likes of EDC Las Vegas and the start of his Ibiza residency.

Already it’s off to a strong start, with millions of streams since its late-June release date, with that number only set to climb – especially with kids the world over discovering FISHER with his guest spot in Toy Story 5.

"It’s no surprise our Aussie legend Fisher has found himself in Toy Story 5, he’s iconic,” says Morris. “His latest drop with Florence Arman is just one I cant stop playing, it’s the mid year boost we need, fresh but with that signature fisher sound!"

CHART UPDATE

This week shows another strong showing of local acts on Radio Monitor Hot 100 chart, with Josh Fawaz currently sitting at No. 2 thanks to his version of Madonna's Like A Prayer, despite the growing concerns and allegations that the track is AI-generated.

G Flip's Bed On Fire jumps up to No. 11 this week, while Tame Impala's Dracula heads back to the top 20 at No. 17. Sonny Fodera's Think About Us is down to No. 25, while The Kid LAROI's Girls is at No. 29, having previously peaked at No. 2.

Sonny Fodera again shows up at No. 31 with Let Me Be In Your Arms, as does The Kid LAROI with PIECES at No. 41. Amy Shark, meanwhile, closes out the Aussie representation in the top 50 with The Biggest Dick at No. 43.

It’s a relatively similar story on the ARIA charts this week, with just three homegrown cuts in the top 50. That includes Tame Impala’s Dracula at No. 9, G Flip’s Bed On Fire at No. 39, and The Kid LAROI’s Girls at No. 49.
