It’s romantic to spend Valentine’s Day watching Polaris and a bunch of other heavy bands by the beach, right? That’s likely what fans are asking today, as the Sydney metalcore band have unveiled their first-ever curated summer festival, Life’s A Beach.

The inaugural event will take place on Saturday, 14 February, at the Riviera Beach Club in St Kilda, Melbourne. In addition to Polaris, the festival will feature international heavyweights We Came As Romans and Caskets, who will perform alongside local acts Thy Art Is Murder, Ocean Sleeper, Terminal Sleep, Reliqa, and Headwreck.

Pre-sale tickets will be available at 11 am AEST on Tuesday, 23 September – register here to access those tickets. The general sale opens on Thursday, 25 September, at 11 am AEST via the Destroy All Lines website.

In a statement, Polaris drummer Daniel Furnari said of the impending event, “Putting together an outdoor fest that we can call our own has been a little pipedream of ours for a while now - and this coming summer felt like the perfect time to dip our toes in, so to speak!”

He added, “We’ve hand-picked a killer mix of old friends from abroad and at home, some familiar favourites and some of the best up-and-coming local talent. We’re so psyched to have the chance to create a new experience for our fans in such a unique and beautiful location.

“We can’t wait to have a mosh as the sun goes down, and most likely throw ourselves into the waves as soon as we walk off stage! Life’s a beach, baby, don’t forget it!”

The announcement of Life’s A Beach follows the recent release of Polaris’ mini-documentary, FOREVER.

Not just commemorating the band’s boundless energy, the documentary also captured Polaris performing their first hometown show surrounded by their loved ones following the tragic loss of guitarist Ryan Siew. Recorded from Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion in 2023, it’s a must-watch for fans. You can check it out below.

Polaris dropped their most recent album, Fatalism, in 2023. The record debuted at #1 on the ARIA Charts, gained nominations for Australian Album of the Year at the 2023 J Awards and for the 2023 Australian Music Prize. The band have been working on new music this year—some of which might just be heard at the first-ever Life’s A Beach event.
