Paul Kelly Debuts In Top 20 On ARIA Charts

Taylor Swift claims first place

More Paul Kelly Paul Kelly Profile

With so many solid acts attached to Paul Kelly’s new record, The Merri Soul Sessions, it’s no surprise the Aussie legend cracked the top 20 in this week’s charts.

The record, which features guest vocals from Dan Sultan, Clairy Browne and Linda and Vika Bull among others, and was our album of the week last week, landed at 17.

As predicted in midweek figures, Michael Buble’s 2011 album Christmas still sits high up, but fell to two, being surpassed by pop juggernaut Taylor Swift and her 1989, with the rest of the top five filling out with Ed Sheeran (X at three), AC/DC (Rock Or Bust at four) and Human Nature (Jukebox at five).

The only act debuting ahead of Kelly was local pop phenom 5 Seconds Of Summer, who smashed their way onto the charts at seven with LIVESOS.

The week's other debuts included: The Pinkprint by Nicki Minaj (19); Greatest Hits Decade #1 by Carrie Underwood (49) and Black Messiah by D'Angelo & The Vanguard (50).
