Plus a Smashing Pumpkins surge?

Paul Kelly and his friends from The Merri Soul Sessions could be in for a top ten debut in the charts this week, the last ranking before Christmas.

The album, which was our album of the week recently, features guest vocalists including Clairy Browne and Dan Sultan. Kelly last appeared in the charts in 2008 when Spring & Fall peaked at eight. Midweek figures are showing that it’s tracking towards a position around ten at this stage.

Another top ten hope is the new live album from Sydney pop punk exports Five Seconds Of Summer, LIVESOS.

The number one spot will almost certainly be held by Michael Buble’s 2011 album Christmas, which, like clockwork, rose to the top spot again last week. Taylor Swift’s 1989 is currently second and will keep sniffing around the top spot but the biggest gainer will be the Frozen soundtrack – expect it to jump from seven into the top five.

Other debuts will come from Nicki Minaj’s The Pinkprint and Smashing PumpkinsMonuments To An Elegy. The latter is currently tracking to sneak into the top 50, but the announcement of their inclusion on the Soundwave bill this arvo should push it further up in the second half of the week.

Barbra Steisand’s Parnters will also climb from 16.

In the singles chart indie sleeper hit Take Me To Church will shoot up into the top ten after debuting at 33 last week. There’s also sales boosts for the Band Aid 30 charity single Do They Know It’s Christmas, George Erza’s Blame It On Me, Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You, Yolanda Be Coll & DCup’s Sugar Man and One Direction’s Night Changes.

Debuts will come from Reigan’s All Of The Pieces, Taylor Swift’s Style and The Avener’s Fade Out Lines.
