"After initial bemused chats with the roughly five other humans who showed up, I am alone."
A rave that took place on the metaverse has been touted as a "dud" by fans after only 6 people turned out.
Devex report that the online rave was set up by the European Union and cost the European Commission's foreign aid department an approximate £387,000 to set up, develop and market the online space. The project aimed to educate young people about their Global Gateway plan.
The party would see fans enter the metaverse as a digital avatar where they could find a party alongside the water that was playing dance music.
Devex reporter Vince Chadwick attended the event stating, "’I'm here at the “gala” concert in the EU foreign aid dept’s €387k metaverse (designed to attract non politically engaged 18-35 year olds.
"After initial bemused chats with the roughly five other humans who showed up, I am alone."
On his Tweet you can see begrudged punters also inside the metaverse stating, "the concert is just the same DJ spinning the same music."

It explores concepts including digital, green, infrastructure and connectivity. Once logged on users adobt an avatar while they roam a surreal tropical island. Informational stories about the European Union's development cooperation are playing on video screens in various locations. It aims to reach EU citizens about its ongoing activities and reach an audience that does not "access the EU's traditional sources of information."
