Olivia Newton-John & Dolly Parton 'Jolene' Duet Posthumously Released

In a video released by Primary Wave, Olivia Newton-John and Dolly Parton can be seen recording their duet of the Parton classic, Jolene. 

Newton-John covered the song in 1976, three years after Parton originally released it. The music video and duet itself were recorded shortly before Newton-John's passing in August last year.

"I am excited; I have always wanted to sing with Dolly," Newton-John says in the music video. Parton adds, "I am so excited to be working with Olivia Newton-John, one of my favourites of all time.

"We've kinda always stayed close through the years ... I am just so proud to be part of this duet project that she's doing, with singing one of my all-time favourites that I've written, called Jolene. And she says it's one of her favourites – so, why not just do a duet on one of our favourites?" Check out the video below.

The new version of Jolene will feature on the posthumous collection, Just The Two Of Us: The Duets Collection, which includes her daughter Chloe Lattanzi, Mariah Carey, Michael McDonald, John Travolta, Barry Gibb, Vanessa Amorosi, Jon Secada and more. The album will be released on 5 May - pre-save it here.

Last month, Dolly Parton revealed some of the big names that will be a part of her Rock Star album, and they are Sir Paul McCartney, P!nk, John Fogerty, Stevie Nicks, and Brandi Carlile. She also said that P!nk and Brandi Carlile would accompany her on a cover of the Rolling Stones classic, Satisfaction; Nicks, Fogerty, and vocalists Steve Perry (Journey), Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), and Cher are also appearing on unannounced tracks.

Olivia Newton-John's state memorial service will take place this Sunday, 26 February, at Hamer Hall in Melbourne.

Proceedings will take place at 4 pm AEDT and are expected to wrap up by 6 pm. The Victorian Government will also stream the service on its website.

Doors will open an hour before the event begins, with tickets available now. This is a free event. However, bookings are essential. A limit of two tickets per booking applies. Make your booking through Arts Centre Melbourne.

A singer, songwriter, actress, entrepreneur, and activist, Newton-John was a multiple-time Grammy Award-winner with a legacy of hits, including Physical and I Honestly Love You. Her 1981 single Physical was a worldwide smash hit. Accompanied by one of the most instantly recognisable video clips ever made, for which it received the Grammy for video of the year, Physical is a cornerstone of early '80s pop.

Since being diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992, Newton-John dedicated much of her time to supporting efforts and raising funds to find a cure for cancer. Newton-John's work in that space includes the establishment of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne and the Olivia Newton-John Foundation.
