Last week, the six-episode dark comedy drama, The Death Of Bunny Munro—based on Nick Cave’s 2009 novel of the same name—finished airing on screens.
Featuring Doctor Who and House Of The Dragon star Matt Smith as the titular character, the series finds Bunny Munro embarking on a road trip with his nine-year-old son following the death of his wife. At the same time, a serial killer is lurking in the area.
Now, Nick Cave has confirmed that the series’ official soundtrack, featuring himself and Warren Ellis, will be released this Friday, 19 December, on streaming services and as digital downloads. Vinyl will be released in 2026. You can pre-order/pre-save the soundtrack here.
The soundtrack includes songs by The Waterboys, Chumbawumba, Primal Scream, Avril Lavigne, Kylie Minogue, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Joy Division, The Stranglers, and more, plus, of course, a couple of songs by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. The show’s theme song is also an original track penned by Cave and Ellis. You can find the full soundtrack tracklist below.
In 2023, Cave said of his characters coming to life, “Finally, someone with the courage to take on this unholy tale. I am thrilled that Sky and Clerkenwell Films are bringing Bunny to life in all his flawed glory, and I can think of nobody better than Matt Smith to play him.”
Smith described the book as “a brilliant exploration of love, grief, and chaos” and added, “At its heart, a deep, difficult, and tender story about a father and son, coping with loss and change.”

Next month, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will come home for their first tour of Australia and New Zealand since 2017. The band will perform in massive venues across both countries to promote their latest album, Wild God.
Discussing the band’s monumental return to Australia and New Zealand, Cave said: “I can’t wait to get to Australia and New Zealand with The Bad Seeds and to bring you our epic Wild God show. It’s been a long time coming, and I’ve missed both Australia and New Zealand very much. It will be a wild and mighty joy.”
