Glastonbury Festival donates ponchos meant for 2020 festival to the NHS for PPE
Glastonbury Festival is putting their 2020 supplies to good use after having to cancel their 50th anniversary and has donated several thousand ponchos.
When Glastonbury announced their 2020 festival would not be going ahead this year due to the outbreak of COVID-19 across the world, it hit particularly hard for many music fans globally.
The iconic festival, with one of its very best line ups so far as it was the event's 50th anniversary, is a central event for many even if you're unable to attend physically and the news it was to be cancelled put into light how serious this pandemic really is for the music industry. However, despite the wide-reaching and severe impact on the music industry, its this same industry that once again has dug deep to help in any way it can, and Glastonbury have done their part to chip in and help out.
The festival has announced that it will be donating the ponchos they had planned to use for this year's festivals to the UK's NHS. The ponchos will be repurposed to make more personal protective equipment and will be used by frontline healthcare workers in the fight against COVID-19.
This news comes after the festival also donated their medical supplies intended for this year's event to the NHS last month. According to The Guardian, the "several thousand" ponchos will be distributed to "hospitals in the West Country".
