'Our aim is to be a benchmark for outdoor venue experiences for artists, concert-goers and promoters.'

Victoria and Queensland could be welcoming new outdoor music venues as part of an exciting expansion plan from a new industry player.

Following news yesterday that Cedar Mill Group had acquired land in NSW’s Hunter Valley for a purpose-built 22,000-person venue, the company’s General Manager, Kyle McKendry, has revealed to The Music that they’re currently looking at properties in Victoria and Queensland.

“The motivation for Cedar Mill is to establish a network of quality outdoor venues across Australia and New Zealand,” McKendry said.

“We are currently looking at properties in Victoria and Queensland, as well as other locations around Australia and across the ditch."

Cedar Mill Group also recently announced a 30,000-person concert venue for Lake Macquarie in NSW as part of a $235 million redevelopment of Morisset Golf Course.

“Cedar Mill Lake Macquarie will be the first, followed by Cedar Mill Hunter Valley,” he said.

"Our aim is for Cedar Mill to be a benchmark for outdoor venue experiences for artists, concert-goers and promoters.

“Industry best facilities, both back of house and front of house, enhancing the experience for all involved. We hope to attract the world's best artists.

“Cedar Mill venues are being designed by some of the best event industry operators in Australia.

“We believe this will be key in delivering the most enjoyable user experience for performers and punters. We are investing heavily upfront to ensure this can happen."

As part of its plans to reinvigorate Australia’s live music and events industry as it recovers from the global pandemic, Cedar Mill Group last month bought one of the county’s leading event management, logistics and production planning companies, Humm.
