MusicOz Names Corporate Partner For Awards

HTC to partner for the event

MusicOz have opened entries for their Australian Independent Music Awards [AIMA] with the announcement that multi-national mobile phone company HTC have come on as corporate partners.

Not to be confused with the Jagermeister Independent Music Awards, run by the Australian Independent Record Labels Association, MusicOz's AIMAs will take place at Sydney's The Star Thursday 7 November.

MusicOz's CEO Tim Dixon said today it was, “fabulous to have HTC come on board and recognise the value of the independent music community in Australia.”

HTC's Marketing Director Jeremy Matthews added, “This is a truly exciting opportunity for HTC. We see this as a great fit for our brand.”

Awards will be given across 18 categories, including pop, rock, metal/hardcore, alternative, acoustic/singer-songwriter, urban, dance/electronica, jazz/classical, blues/roots, country, world/folk, international, Christian/spiritual, schoolies, live, instrumental, video and DJ. MusicOz, which is registered as a non-profit, charges $30 a song to enter.

Previously known as the National MusicOz Awards, they were first held in 2000 and then annually until 2008 when it went into an 18 month cycle. The 2013 event marks the return of the award to an annual routine.
