John 5 is a busy man. While he cancelled his first-ever headline tour of Australia with his band, The Creatures, in December, he’s picked up a main gig playing the guitar in Mötley Crüe.
Never content to relax, the ex-Rob Zombie guitarist has revealed that he will feature on Dolly Parton’s upcoming tentatively-titled Rock Star album.
“I’m so honored [sic] that I got the opportunity to play guitar on one of the songs on the upcoming Dolly Parton album,” John 5 wrote on Twitter. “I’ve been listening to Dolly ever since I can remember. Words cannot describe how exciting this is.”

In a recent appearance on the talk show, The View, Dolly Parton shared some of the names appearing on her upcoming, aptly titled Rock Star album.
"If I’m going to be in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, I better do something to earn it," she told the panel on The View. "So I’m doing a rock ‘n’ roll album, and I’m having a lot of the rock stars that I met that night be on the album with me."
Parton unveiled some big names who will appear on the album: Sir Paul McCartney, P!nk, John Fogerty, Stevie Nicks, and Brandi Carlile.
She also said that P!nk and Brandi Carlile would accompany her on a cover of the Rolling Stones classic, Satisfaction; Nicks, Fogerty, and vocalists Steve Perry (Journey), Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), and Cher are also appearing on unannounced tracks.
John 5 isn’t the only metalhead who will potentially feature on Parton’s album. In an interview last month, Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford confirmed that he was also in talks to feature on the album.
Rob Halford revealed that Parton’s manager, Danny Nozell approached him about contributing to the country music superstar’s rock album.
“After the show, her manager came up to me, Danny, and he goes, 'She's doing a project, like a rock album. Would you be interested?' I said, 'Yeah. Here's my number.' And then, out of the blue, like four weeks later, and suddenly [there's] ideas for some more work,” Halford said.
The Painkiller vocalist continued, “Even though I'll always be a metalhead till the day I day, I've always felt that you should explore anything that comes your way. Don't just say 'no', 'cause you don't know what you've lost. So that was just a real thrill.”
