One of the world’s largest music contests wrapped up in Tel Aviv on Sunday morning, but it seems Aussie viewers were more interested in a competition a little closer to home.
As TV Tonight reports, The Voice’s return on Nine garnered 1.01 million viewers last night, while Eurovision – featuring Australian entry Kate Miller-Heidke - totalled 486,000 on SBS across its live winner broadcast (peaking at 240,000) in the morning and primetime replay (246,000), with an average of 166,000 watching the contest as it happened.
The eighth season of The Voice, featuring new judge Guy Sebastian alongside Kelly Rowland, Boy George and Delta Goodrem, premiered to slightly fewer viewers than its previous, with the 2017 premiere playing to 1.07 million.

Since the Eurovision grand final aired, Miller-Heidke’s performance of Zero Gravity has been watched more than 700,000 times via the song contest’s official YouTube.
The Brisbane singer’s performance was also the third most globally tweeted moment from Eurovision as it was happening.
