Miley Cyrus found herself in the sights of misinformed fans over the weekend, with the singer receiving a barrage of complaints from those who attended her film Q&A expecting a gig.
On Friday evening, Cyrus appeared at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City to premiere her Something Beautiful film – the visual accompaniment to her new album of the same name. Appearing at the Beacon Theatre, Cyrus took part in a Q&A which soon turned sour as fans began to loudly express their discontent with the content of the night.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the singer began receiving shouted questions from fans who yelled out questions such as “Are you actually going to sing?”, with another claiming “We thought this was a concert, we paid $800.”
A credit to her charitable nature, Cyrus did respond to a vocal fan who requested she sing The Climb from Hannah Montana: The Movie, saying “You have to start it.” As a result, she did end up performing one song – far less than what some of these fans may have expected.
The incident has already been the focus of intense discussion online, with the issue itself being traced to online ticket resellers such as StubHub.
Reportedly, tickets to the event initially sold for just $100, though by the time they had made it onto reseller platforms, they were listed as “Miley Cyrus Live” which, while technically correct, may have led purchasers to believe a concert was the planned course of action for the evening.

Another individual also shared an image on social media pointing out how they had clicked on a link from Vivid Seats which they used to buy tickets to Cyrus’ ‘Endless Summer Vacation 2025’ tour. That title appears to be in reference to her 2023 album of the same name, though Cyrus did not embark on a tour for the record.
The Miley Cyrus Updates X/Twitter account shared footage of the fans’ demands to Cyrus, adding a caption that noted, “The Miley Cyrus Tribeca event was always advertised as a film premiere and conversation. Read what you’re paying for before complaining. Rude.”
