Holy shit, out of nowhere!

Classic Aussie rockers Midnight Oil have revealed that following their disbandment in 2002, the quintet will be back for a run of gigs in Australia and globally sometime in 2017.

The band posted a short and sweet statement on their Facebook, writing, "We wanted you to be the first to know that the five of us are planning to do some gigs in Australia and overseas during 2017. It will probably be at least the end of this year before we know exactly where or when..."

The Sydney rockers briefly reformed in 2005 and 2009 to perform both WaveAid and Sound Relief respectively, but the band have been largely inactive since 2002's Capricornia

The news also comes just days after news surfaced that Peter Garrett was reportedly in the process of releasing a new solo album
