Melbourne’s Great Britain Hotel Keeping Live Music Under New Management

Pledge to have live music three nights a week

Richmond's Great Britain Hotel has vowed to keep live music as a part of the pub's offering as it assumes new management.

It January it emerged that publicans Chris and Penny Hodges would not have their lease renewed after 18 years in control, throwing a cloud of doubt over the venue's future.

The Melbourne Venue Company are now in control of the space and said today they will continue to host three live shows a week.

The company's CEO Michael Thiele said, “We understand the beauty of a historic pub with character and we are not about to mess with that.”

They also pledged to keep the venue as a “hub for unearthing unique Melbourne talent.”

MVC's portfolio of pubs and venues includes the Tap House, the College Lawn Hotel and the Perseverance amongst many others.
