Madonna has issued an update on her health and upcoming Celebration world tour dates, confirming that the first leg of the shows, which would have kicked off this Saturday, 15 July, in Vancouver, has been postponed.

In a social media statement, Madonna revealed that she’s “on the road to recovery” and upcoming dates must be rescheduled. “I hate to disappoint anyone,” she wrote.

The Material Girl singer also assured fans that her focus is on getting stronger and that she’ll return to the stage as soon as possible. You can read the full post below.

Thank you for your positive energy, Prayers and words of healing and encouragement.
I have felt your love.
I’m on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life.

My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children.
My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour.
I also didn’t want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the past few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone.

My focus now is on my health and getting stronger and I assure you, I’ll be back with you as soon as I can.

The current plan is to reschedule the North American leg of the tour and to begin in October in Europe.

I couldn’t be more grateful for your care and support.

Love,M.

In late June, Madonna’s longtime manager Guy Oseary said her Celebration tour dates would need to be postponed after the singer was hospitalised with a bacterial infection. The “serious bacterial infection” led to several days in the ICU.

While Oceania dates could come later, it currently looks like Australian and New Zealand fans won't be visited by the Queen Of Pop on her Celebration world tour.
