Luca Brasi shared some sad news with fans yesterday (8 November), revealing that guitarist Patrick Marshall will depart the band.
Marshall joined the band as their third guitarist in 2012 and played on the albums By A Thread (2014), If This Is All We’re Going To Be (2016), Stay (2018), Everything Is Tenuous (2021), and last year’s The World Don’t Owe You Anything.
In a post shared by the band, Luca Brasi noted that it’s not all bad news, announcing that Nick Manuell (Bodyjar, Raging Hormones) has joined the band.
Here’s what they had to say:
Bittersweet News for Luca Brasi Fans
With a heavy heart, we announce that Pat will be departing from Luca Brasi. We’re so grateful for his years of dedication, passion, and all the unforgettable moments shared on and off the stage. Pat, we’ll always cherish our time together and wish you nothing but the best on your journey forward
But it’s not all sad news! We’re thrilled to welcome Nick Manuell into the Luca Brasi family! You might recognize this legend from bands like Raging Hormones and Bodyjar. Drop Nick a G’day and show him some love!
Here's to new beginnings and honoring the past. We can’t wait for what lies ahead.
Last year, Marshall started a GoFundMe fundraising campaign on behalf of his bandmate, Tyler Richardson, after his young son was diagnosed with cancer.

In a statement shared on the GoFundMe fundraiser, Marshall explained that in late July last year, Richardson’s one-year-old son Harris was “diagnosed with cancer out of the blue”. Richardson and his wife Alix were gearing up for a sudden move to Melbourne, where Harris could begin receiving treatment at a children’s hospital. This year, Richardson and his family appeared on A Current Affair and lamented the broken healthcare system they’d been experiencing.
Last September, Luca Brasi released their latest album, The World Don’t Owe You Anything, and followed it up with a national tour with special guests, Spanish Love Songs earlier this year. You can check out The Music’s photo gallery from their Adelaide show here.
