Luca Brasi guitarist Patrick Marshall has started a fundraiser for the band’s singer and bassist, Tyler Richardson, hoping to cover some important costs as the frontman deals with a devastating family crisis.

In a statement shared with the fundraiser, Marshall explained that just last week, Richardson’s one-year-old son Harris was “diagnosed with cancer out of the blue”. Richardson and his wife Alix are now gearing up for a sudden move to Melbourne, where Harris can begin receiving treatment at a children’s hospital.

As it’s noted in the fundraiser, the parents will be unable to work for up to a year as Harris undergoes medical care, leaving them with “a financial strain” on top of “what is already a super stressful time for them”.

Marshall continued in his statement: “We would like to help them as much as we possibly can, and this is one way in which we can all help them. We would like to raise enough money to help cover their mortgage while they are away and any unforeseen costs that may arise. We all know that they would do anything for us, so now it is our turn to return the favour.”

The fundraiser – which you can view and contribute to here – was set up yesterday (July 30) and has already seen more than 1,300 people chip in. An initial target of $60,000 was set by Marshall, however at the time of writing (3pm on July 31), the tally comes in at $116,655.

Meanwhile, Luca Brasi are scheduled to release their sixth album, The World Don’t Owe You Anything, on September 29 via Cooking Vinyl. The follow-up to 2021’s Everything Is Tenuous was announced last month alongside the release of its title track.
