British India, Xavier Rudd and Lee Kernaghan's ANZACS are in the mix

More Kendrick Lamar More Kendrick Lamar

A handful of local releases will challenge the new Kendrick Lamar album for the title of this week's top ARIA Chart debut.

Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly dropped a week earlier than expected on Monday night and is on track to finish in the top five or three, despite giving the rest of the pack a few days' head start. The rapper's biggest competition will come from the Lee Kernaghan-driven album Spirit Of The ANZACS, which features appearances from Sheppard, Megan Washington and Jessica Mauboy among others. The special compilation is also on target to land in this week's top three.

Don't count out impressive finishes from Melbourne rock mainstays British India or local roots maestro Xavier Rudd though. India's fifth LP Nothing Touches Me and Rudd's new album with band The United Nations, Nanna are both on track to go at least top ten.

Other debut albums to look out for include Troy Cassar-Daley's Freedom Ride, Marina & The Diamonds' Froot, Damien Leith's Songs From Ireland and Modest Mouse's Strangers To Ourselves. Expect movement from the already charted Vulnicura by Bjork, Lady Antebellum's 747 and Paul Kelly's The Merri Soul Sessions.

In terms of the ARIA Singles Chart this week, just announced for Vivid, Daniel Johns, should climb back in the top 20 with his first solo single Aerial Love, while local hip hop faves Hilltop Hoods will land somewhere in the 40 via new single Live And Let Go featuring Maverick Sabre and Brother Ali.

Debuts this week will come in the shape of Mumford & Sons' Believe, Jason Derulo's Want To Want Me, Muse's Psycho and Delta Goodrem's Only Human, while Sam Smith's Lay Me Down, LunchMoney Lewis' Bills and Jarryd James' Do You Remember some of the tracks that will creep back up the chart.
