Liam Gallagher may have previously famously criticised the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, but now that Oasis are getting inducted this year, he’s seemingly changed his tune, telling fans he plans on attending this year’s ceremony.

After this year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees – which include Oasis, Iron Maiden, Phil Collins, Sade, Joy Division/New Order and others – were announced during a Hall of Fame-themed episode of American Idol on Monday (13 April), the Champagne Supernova singer celebrated the news on X (formerly known as Twitter).

“I wanna thank all the people who voted for us it’s a real honour ever since I was a little kid and singing in the shower I’d dream about 1 day being in the RnR hall of fame it’s true what they say anything is possible if you have a dream LG x,” the Oasis frontman wrote.

Replying to his post, a fan asked, “what happened to not wanting to be in it hmmmmmm.”

In response, Gallagher credited his mother in his change of heart, writing, “Well I was speaking to my mummy last night when the news broke and she thinks I may have been a little hasty with my perception of the organization she’s told me to stop being a dick and go to the awards and behave and you never know you might enjoy it.”

He added that his brother, Noel, would also attend the ceremony, and they’d be “soooooo proud and humble.”

When fans asked what he would say during his acceptance speech, he quipped, “Well I’ll obv bring a box of chocolates and flowers and apologize to the organizers for my ignorance.”

Chatting back-and-forth with fans who said they voted for Oasis in the fan vote, Gallagher said they were “the best.” However, others labelled him a “hypocrite” for changing his tune after his previous words about the institution, to which he responded that he was “BIBLICAL” and “i know rite what a c*nt.”

Staying on the topic of Oasis’s induction into the Hall of Fame, he added, “Reverse psychology vibes in the area Oasis RnR hall of farmers I mean famers.”

Gallagher hasn’t always been so positive about the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Upon the announcement that Oasis were nominated for induction in 2024, he wrote on X, “Fuck the Rock n Roll hall of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS.” He also described the institution as “bollocks,” “very fishy,” and “for wankers.”

In another post to fans, he wrote, “You know it I don’t need some wank award by some geriatric in a cowboy hat.”

Earlier this year, he thanked fans for not voting for Oasis in the fan-voted section of the Rock Hall of Fame website.
