Liam Gallagher put the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on blast on X (formerly known as Twitter) after Oasis received their first-ever nomination this year.

Writing “Fuck the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame”, Gallagher also called the awards “bollocks” and “very fishy”.

Oasis are one of ten brand-new nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, with Mariah Carey, Sade, Cher, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Ozzy Osbourne, Lenny Kravitz, Kool & The Gang, and Sinéad O'Connor as their peers.

The inductees will be officially announced in April ahead of the official ceremony going ahead in Cleveland, streamed live on Disney+, and aired on ABC in the US at a later date.

Without any context, Gallagher posted to his platform yesterday, “Fuck the Rock n Roll hall of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS”. Responding to a fan urging other listeners to vote for Oasis in the fan poll, he answered, “Don’t waste your time as much as it’s appreciated it’s all a load of bollox”.

Replying to another fan who asked him if he genuinely didn’t want Oasis to be inducted, Gallagher wrote that he appreciated the support but “I honestly feel there’s something very fishy about those awards”. After another X user wrote that Oasis deserves the honour, he replied, “Not as much as Mariah she smashed it”.

Gallagher wrote in perhaps the most amusing response, “You know it I don’t need some wank award by some geriatric in a cowboy hat”.

Elsewhere, Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan argued that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame should change its name to the Music Hall of Fame, as it’s “confusing” to have awards that aren’t strictly relegated to rock music.

“Why don't you just call it the Music Hall of Fame?” Corgan asked in a recent Reinvented with Jen Eckhart interview.

He continued, “I quantify rock 'n' roll as more of a spirit thing… I think it's hard for people to understand the definitive qualities, especially when you start putting in pop artists who are strictly pop artists.

“Now if the argument is that, over time, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has morphed into an institutional culture which is more the 'Music Hall of Fame,' then I think that would be easier for people to understand.”

In 2022, Liam Gallagher stated his interest in an Oasis reunion and admitted that he regretted the split. In an interview with The Times, he shared, “I'd love Oasis to get back together. If it happens, it happens. We should never have split up, but we did, and this is where we're at.”
