Two cutting-edge electronic acts

More Kucka More Kucka

Perth electronic artist Kučka (Laura Jane Lowther) has announced Nite Fleit and Lizard Promise as supports for her #portals live performance at Sydney's VIVID Festival.

Nite Fleit (Alysha Fleiter) is an important fixture in the Australian electronic music scene, with her signature chugging balearic, acid and industrial beat. She is a fixture at 77 and Power Station, having supported the likes of Maurice Fulton, Public Possession and Scott Fraser.

Lizard Promise (Ryan Powderly) is a member of multi-faceted leisure system Pelvis and four-piece band Retiree. His trippy sounds are a mix of brass jazz samples, rhythmic '90s synth guitars and electronic sci-fi sounds.

Kučka's 40-minute performance was developed with visual artist Rachael Archibald entirely via Skype, and will explore the themes of consciousness, virtual reality and escapism. The duo have yet to meet in real life.

"#Portals is quite different work to my usual Kučka stuff," Lowther said of the experience. "It's more immersive and experimental but still retaining a similar sound palette to my usual productions."

Kučka will play VIVID Festival at The Basement, Sydney on 2 June. She will also head to Dark Mofo in Hobert on June 10. Tickets are available now.
