Brisbane singer-songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke has today announced she has parted ways with Sony Music, her label of over seven years, and will release her new album independently.

Miller-Heidke announced the news on Twitter this afternoon.

Her next album, to be called O Vertigo, will be funded using the PledgeMusic platform, which allows artists to offer all manner of exciting perks to their fans in return for pre-orders of the album. This week it was announced that orders through PledgeMusic are now eligible for the ARIA Charts.

The alt-pop darling has released three full length LPs through Sony, as well as one album from pop-centric side-project Fatty Gets A Stylist, a live album and two EPs. All pledgers will receive a live album recorded earlier this year as soon as they donate.

O Vertigo is expected to be released on Friday 14 March, 2014.
