Karnivool will perform their acclaimed 'Sound Awake' album in full during a special event this May.
Perth rockers Karnivool have unveiled a special livestreamed event to celebrate a decade of their acclaimed album Sound Awake.
Back in February, the group were forced to cancel all dates outside of WA for their Sound Awake anniversary tour due to COVID restrictions, promising a special event would be announced so fans across the country and beyond could celebrate with them.
The one-time livestreamed event broadcast from Perth’s Heath Ledger Theatre will take place on May 12 and see the band perform Sound Awake in its entirety alongside new material and fan favourite Fade, “captured on film properly for the first time.”
The band’s Sound Awake tour was originally planned for early 2020, but was rescheduled twice before all East Coast shows were cancelled. WA fans were lucky enough to catch them perform the album across two dates in March.

At the time, Karnivool said: “We are sick to our stomachs to announce all Decade of Sound Awake shows outside of Western Australia have to be cancelled.
“When we were forced to move the tour for a second time, we were optimistic that shows would be able to proceed normally, safely and in the way we had envisioned them.
“With further rounds of border closures, limited capacities and other show restrictions it is clearly, regrettably, no longer viable to put on the events we want and you deserve for holding onto your ticket for all this time!
“This album means so much to us and the tour warrants full production, epic visuals and sweaty singalongs, things that just cannot happen in the middle of a pandemic. Believe us, we have looked at more options than an Aldi shopper.”
Released in 2009 and featuring beloved tracks such as Set Fire To The Hive, New Day and All I Know, Sound Awake peaked at #2 on the ARIA Albums chart.
On revisiting the album, frontman Ian Kenny noted: "Diving back into Sound Awake as a complete performance was a sweet reminder of the layers and complexity that make it one of our most important releases.
"The music pushes and pulls in complex directions, I continue to find something new when lost in its emotional turbulence."
