Kamasi Washington will be making his long-awaited return to Australia this year, with three dates set to take place across Australia this June.

Washington will touch down in Australia in just over a couple of months, launching his latest Australian trek with a show at Carriageworks in Sydney on June 8th as part of their Vivid Sydney celebrations.

He'll head down to Melbourne on June 11th for a special headline date at the Palais Theatre, before returning north to perform at Brisbane's Queensland Performing Arts Centre Concert Hall on June 12th. That final show will take place as part of the QPAC's Open Season festival programming.

At his Sydney and Melbourne shows, Washington will be joined by up-and-coming Aussie jazz artist Micah Heathwood.

These upcoming dates will be Washington’s first in the country since 2022. He's had a storied career on local shores ever since he made his debut down here back in 2016 as part of the 2016 Bluesfest lineup. Since then, he's visited three more times, playing larger headline dates each time.

Having first made his debut as a musician in the late '90s, Washington has enjoyed an impressive rise to fame as an acclaimed jazz saxophonist in the ensuing years. Alongside work as a prolific sideman which saw him work with Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, and Run The Jewels, to name a few, he's released numerous albums with Throttle Elevator Music and as a solo artist.

His most recent release, 2024's Fearless Movement, received rave reviews and featured the likes of Thundercat, André 3000, George Clinton and more. It ended up reaching #2 on the Australian Jazz & Blues Albums chart in addition to appearing on numerous best-of lists for the year.

Tickets to Washington’s Sydney and Brisbane shows are on sale now, while his Melbourne show goes on sale from 10am local time on Thursday, March 27th. A Live Nation pre-sale runs for 24 hours from 9am on Wednesday, March 26th.
