'John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band' returns to the ARIA Albums chart top 50!

John Lennon’s first solo album, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, has soared back into the ARIA Albums chart decades after its original release.

The iconic record has returned to the top 50 in Australia for the first time since it was released in December of 1970.

Released in the wake of The Beatles break-up and featuring singles like Mother, Love, Working Class Hero and more, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band was this year reissued to mark its 50th anniversary.

The reissue includes bonus tracks such as Give Peace A Chance, Cold Turkey and Instant Karma (We All Shine On) and there was also an eight-disc box set released that includes outtakes, jams, demos and alternate mixes.

Following its original release in 1970, the album peaked at #3 in Australia in June of the following year.

At the end of last year, a documentary that explores the story of Lennon’s murder was aired in Australia.
