"The lockout laws aren't working. We've gotta help keep music alive and keep Sydney alive."
With another Keep Sydney Open rally organised for tomorrow off the back of Justice Ian Callinan's recent lockout review findings, it's clear that more and more industry figures are finding their voices in showing their support for the anti-lockout organisation.
Electronic wunderkind Flume recently soundtracked a video for KSO, while scores of musicians such as Lorde, Flight Facilities, Alison Wonderland, RUFUS and The Preatures got behind the team to contribute to their new commemorative plaque initiative. Now, Jimmy Barnes has stepped up to the plate to lend his voice at the Sydney rally tomorrow, expected to attract thousands of people.
In a Facebook video, Barnes states, "Since the lockout laws have come into place, live venues' attendance are down 40%. The lockout laws aren't working. We've gotta help keep music alive and keep Sydney alive, let's find a better way to do it."
The Jezebels' Hayley Mary, along with hip hop act Urthboy, City Of Sydney councillor Jess Scully and KSO's own Tyson Koh will all be speaking at the rally, while One Day, Touch Sensitive, Ariane and Paul Mac with Stereogamous will be performing.
