To celebrate the release of his forthcoming 20th studio album, Flesh & Blood, Jimmy Barnes has announced a headline tour of Australia.

With the album due for release on 2 July, the Australian rock legend will kick off the run the same night in Perth, before moving on to perform in Adelaide, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Sydney.

"It’s great to be back playing live again”, Barnes said.

“It was good to get some downtime at home for a change but now we’re hungry to get back onstage together.

"If 2020 taught me anything it’s that Facebook and YouTube videos can be fun but they’re no substitute for a real gig.”

Barnes performed the title track of Flesh & Blood during the State Memorial for Michael Gudinski last month at the specific request of Gudinski's son and newly-announced Mushroom CEO, Matt Gudinski.

"Jimmy and Dad had a friendship and work partnership that stretched across decades," Gudinski said.

"He was one of the first people Dad would call for advice or to perform at a special gig, so Jimmy was always at the top of the list to perform at Dad’s memorial.

"In a night which had so many special moments I know this was one that Dad would have particularly loved."

Meanwhile, Barnes' 2018 documentary, Working Class Boy, premiered on Stan over the weekend.

Tickets for Barnes' headline tour go on sale from midday local time on Wednesday 5 May.
