The influential label will host an anniversary party and Xmas shinding at the Annandale, promising good times and an excellent lineup
The influential record label Ivy League will be celebrating it's first 15 years in style with a anniversary celebration and Christmas party at the iconic Annandale Hotel on Wednesday 12 December.
Several artists from the label's current lineup, including The Mess Hall, The Rubens, Alpine, Lanie Lane and SURES will perform in between beers, a BBQ and special guest DJs.
Ivy League Records was set up 15 years ago in a dinky Newtown office by three friends: Pete Lusty, Andy Cassell and Andy Kelly. Since then, Ivy League has been called home by some of Australia's biggest artists, including Youth Group, Josh Pyke, The Mess Hall, The City Lights, The Vines, Cloud Control, Lanie Lane, Alpine and The Rubens to name a few. Though, as Cassell recalls, it wasn't always an easy ride:
"The rent was $50 per week and we shared one mobile phone between the three of us that was the size of a packet of scotch finger biscuits. We also shared the one email address and a thermal fax machine, which we bought from cash converters. We relied on two minute noodles, part time jobs, the dole, and the generosity of our girlfriends at the time to get us through the first 5 years."
Come on down and help the guys celebrate their emergence as one of the big players in Australian music. Tickets go on sale Monday 5 November and are $20 from the venue.
