The singer-songwriter passed away after a battle with lung cancer
Lesley Gore, the woman behind '60s pop anthem It's My Party, has died at the age of 68.
Gore's death was confirmed to ABC News by her partner of 33 years, Lois Sasson. She passed away from lung cancer in a Manhattan hospital.
Gore, born Lesley Sue Goldstein, got her big break in the early '60s after being discovered by Quincy Jones. She released It's My Party soon after, though Gore also had success through a number of other hits, including Judy's Turn To Cry, Sunshine Lollipops And Rainbows and You Don't Own Me.
Her career as a singer-songwriter pushed her into the world of composing tracks for films, including the Academy Award nominated Out Here On My Own from Fame, which she penned with her brother Michael Gore.
