Labels acquires 50 percent stake in publishing company
Independent label Inertia have today announced they've acquired a 50 percent stake in Melbourne music publisher Gaga Music for an undisclosed amount.
Founded by Grant Gillies in 2007, Gaga is also a licensing agency and rights management business with an estimated roster of 20,000 copyrights for Australia and New Zealand.
Their publishing catalogue includes Animal Collective, The Black Keys, The National as well as Melbourne's Two Bright Lakes label. The deal will allow Inertia to offer their own artists access to Gaga's services in the region, who include Big Scary who are already on Gaga's roster.
The Gaga team will remain in Melbourne, with Inertia directors Ashey Sellers and Colin Daniel's joining the company's board.
