INXS still dominating the chart

More I Killed The Prom Queen More I Killed The Prom Queen

Metalcore outfit I Killed The Prom Queen are tracking towards a top five debut in the ARIA Album Charts this week as INXS push for their second week at number one.

Adelaide and Melbourne originating IKTPQ released Beloved on Valentine's Day last week and will be this week's highest debut in the charts, if the trends of the midweek figures continues. At this stage Beloved will be hoping for a top five position, which will be the band's best result by far given Music For The Recently Deceased managed 27 in 2006 and Sleepless Nights & City Lights got to 48 in 2008 pre-hiatus.

They could've been hoping for even higher if the tidal wave that is the INXS: Never Tear Us Apart mini-series wasn't having such a big impact on the chart.

Last week INXS' The Very Best went to number one with six albums and seven tracks pushing into the top 100. Following the show's finale on Sunday The Very Best could hold on to that number one spot while the band's 1987 album Kick will move up from seven, where it landed last week. At this stage the record, which peaked at two back in 1988, is just out of reach of the number one spot but it would be something to see the album top the chart 26 years after it last threatened the top spot.

Other INXS albums moving this week are The Swing, Shabooh Shoobah and Listen Like Thieves.

Chvrches' The Bones Of What You Believe will likely push into the top 20 from its current position of 46, while Dolly Parton's The Very Best Of Dolly Parton is selling well thanks to her current tour. Expect top 50 debuts from Eric Church's The Outsiders and †††'s ††† (Crosses) also.

The ARIA Singles Chart has been the domain of Future Music Festival-bound Pharrell's Happy recently, and it probably will be again this week.

Lily Allen's Air Balloon is looking like it will debut near the top ten and Chet Faker's Talk Is Cheap in the 30-40 region. The biggest top ten threats will come from existing movers scanning well this week, though, with Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne's Rather Be and Sara Bareilles's Brave improving their positions.

Other debuts will come from Will Sparks' Catch, Peking Duk's High and Neon Jungle's Braveheart.

Of course, INXS is having an impact on the singles chart as well with strong sales shown for Never Tear Us Apart, Need You Tonight and New Sensation.
