Foo FightersFoo Fighters are releasing their new album, Your Favorite Toy, next Friday (24 April), and they’re offering the opportunity for fans to hear the record early.
The US rockers have announced global listening parties for next week, taking place on Wednesday, 22 and Thursday, 23 April. And for Australian fans, the news is bittersweet – Sydney is the only Australian city listed as a global listening party location. For New Zealand fans, a listening party is going down in Auckland.
However, fans across Latin America, the US, the UK, and Europe will have more luck, with listening parties taking place in Buenos Aires, Cologne, Dublin, Hamburg, Montreal, Rio de Janeiro, San Jose, Stockholm, Tokyo, Toronto, Vienna, Warsaw, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Mexico City, Oslo, Paris, Prague, Santiago, and Zurich.

The new album was recorded at home, co-produced by Foo Fighters and Oliver Roman, engineered by Roman, and mixed by Mark “Spike” Stent. It consists of ten tracks and is currently preceded by the title track and Asking For A Friend, the latter of which dropped last year.
Foo Fighters unveiled the title track for the album in February. At the time, frontman Dave Grohl revealed that the song was the “key” for the new record.

“Your Favorite Toy really was the key that unlocked the tone and energetic direction of the new album,” Grohl explained. “We stumbled upon it after experimenting with different sounds and dynamics for over a year, and the day it took shape, I knew that we had to follow its lead. It was the fuse to the powder keg of songs we wound up recording for this record. It feels new.”
The new album announcement arrived just days after the band announced their impending return to Australia. While Foo Fighters visited Tasmania for a one-off show in Launceston in January, Grohl promised that the band would come back “sooner than you think.”
Foo Fighters return to Australia and New Zealand later this year. The tour begins in November and continues into early 2026, taking over stadiums in both countries.
For the tour, 16 of the hottest acts from Australia and New Zealand will open the shows. Head here to find out everything you need to know about Foo Fighters’ Take Cover tour.
