Overnight, Foo Fighters revealed what their recent teasing was about: they announced that their twelfth album, Your Favorite Toy, lands on Friday, 24 April.

In addition to the album announcement, the American rockers dropped the title track: a rhythmic, groovy number with distorted vocals from Dave Grohl and a soaring guitar solo.

The earworm marks the band’s first new music of 2026, while the album is the first to feature new drummer Ilan Rubin (Nine Inch Nails, Paramore).

Your Favorite Toy is a track unlike anything else in the band’s expansive discography, and yet, it’s still somehow immediately identifiable as a Foo Fighters song. You can check it out below.

Grohl explained, “Your Favorite Toy really was the key that unlocked the tone and energetic direction of the new album. We stumbled upon it after experimenting with different sounds and dynamics for over a year, and the day it took shape, I knew that we had to follow its lead. It was the fuse to the powder keg of songs we wound up recording for this record. It feels new.”

The new album was recorded at home, co-produced by Foo Fighters and Oliver Roman, engineered by Roman, and mixed by Mark SpikeStent. It consists of ten tracks and is currently preceded by the title track and Asking For A Friend, which dropped last year.

You can pre-order/pre-save Your Favorite Toy here.

The new album announcement arrives just days after the band announced their impending return to Australia. While Foo Fighters visited Tasmania for a one-off show in Launceston last month, Grohl promised that the band would come back “sooner than you think.”

Foo Fighters’ upcoming tour begins at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on Thursday, 5 November. It continues at Townsville’s Queensland Country Bank Stadium on Saturday, 7 November, Sydney’s Accor Stadium on Tuesday, 10 November, Newcastle’s McDonald Jones Stadium on Thursday, 12 November, Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on Saturday, 14 November, and Adelaide’s Coopers Stadium on Tuesday, 17 November.

Following that run of shows, the tour continues in 2027. The band will perform at One New Zealand Stadium in Christchurch on Tuesday, 19 January, Auckland’s Western Springs Stadium on Friday, 22 January, and conclude the shows at Perth’s HBF Park on Monday, 25 January.

For the tour, 16 of the hottest acts from Australia and New Zealand will open the shows. Head here to find out everything you need to know about Foo Fighters’ Take Cover tour.
