The fight against the potential forced closure of Indigenous communities in Western Australia has grabbed the attention of the whole nation in recent weeks as protests have been staged across the country in support of those people under threat of displacement.
Although the state government has since back-pedalled somewhat from their original claims in November last year that a loss of federal funding would lead to up to 150 Indigenous communities being shut down, supporters across the country are making their voices heard in all manner of ways, from public demonstrations to protests penned in the surrounds of a studio.
It's that latter variety that includes souls such as Melburnian musician Peter Joseph Head (pictured), who has released heartfelt track Where My Grandfather Walked, told from the perspective of the region's Oombulgurri people, who have been directly affected by such closures (at least for now).
It's an affecting listen with a particularly humanist bent, and should certainly give you extra cause to think hard before bandying about nebulous descriptors like "lifestyle choice", at any rate. Hear it below.
