HEALTHUS noise-rock outfit Health have something of an established penchant for pushing folks to the cusp of their comfort zones, but they've thrown caution to the wind and spear-tackled us right off the edge with the wild, substance-fuelled mayhem of the clip for New Coke.
As a shirtless tank runs through lamp-lit streets in slow-motion, the clip flickers in and out of close-up shots of urban party scenes that should be all too familiar to anyone who's ever entered a nightclub precinct - even Alice Glass from Crystal Castles is there for a cameo role - before unexpectedly showing the inevitable unpleasantness that follows any night of heavy consumption — namely, all the vomit in history.
There's a lot of it, too. Like, a lot of it. And it's all coming out in slow-motion and — ugh. It goes everywhere. Just watch it. It's not all vom, but the part that is is all vom, you feel us? Yeah, you do.
warning: not safe for meals
The New Coke clip comes ahead of the August release of Health's third studio album — and first in six years — Death Magic, the eagerly awaited follow-up to 2009's Get Color. They haven't been totally silent in that time, however; the band's most recent release was 2012's original soundtrack for Rockstar's Max Payne 3, while their track High Pressure Dave appeared on the in-game radio in the same company's acclaimed 2013 hit, Grand Theft Auto V.
