With just weeks to go until kick-off, the World Surf League-presented Here Comes The Sun festival has cancelled the Torquay leg of its upcoming national trek.

First announced in January, the Here Comes The Sun festival was presented as a three-stop affair, launching in Torquay, on Victoria’s surf coast on April 4th, before visiting Margaret River in Western Australia on April 25th, and wrapping up on the Gold Coast on May 2nd.

Late last week, a user on Reddit noted they had received a cancellation notice of the festival’s Torquay leg. However no further information was made available, and all mention of the Victorian stop was removed from the festival’s website.

Now, triple j have confirmed that the first leg of the festival has indeed been quietly cancelled.

"Due to unforeseen circumstances, the East Coast promoters of the Torquay Here Comes the Sun Festival announced that the Torquay event will not go ahead," festival organisers told the station in a statement.

"All Torquay event ticket holders have been notified and refunded. Margaret River and Gold Coast events will be going ahead as planned."

Coinciding with the World Surf League’s Australian Championship Tour events this April and May, the line-up for Here Comes The Sun is headlined by beloved Aussie acts Lime Cordiale and The Jungle Giants, and also boasts the likes of Young Franco, Sycco, Eliza & The Delusionals, and Mariae Cassandra.

Festival Director Ross Macpherson said of this year’s events and partnering with World Surf League, “The World Surf League had witnessed our events over the years in Margaret River, but more so when we expanded into Torquay in 2024 with Ocean Alley and Ball Park Music at the top of the bill.”

“Aligning with music events is a part of WSL's goals for 2026 and beyond. Given its relationship with surfing and coastal communities, Here Comes The Sun was a natural fit.”

Tickets to the remaining dates of Here Comes The Sun are on sale now.
