Northern Rivers garage rock band GREG are bringing the sweet Summer season to a close with their second-ever single THINK LESS. Following up from their debut single SUBARU in November 2024, the band is kicking into gear with this raspy, high-energy track that explores the tension between personal comfort and professional chaos.

Fronted by Toby Cregan (former bassist of Skeggs), Zar Harper and Louie O’Riordan, GREG came together in 2024 by three self proclaimed “semi-washed-up rockers having a crack for a thrill”. Coming from humble beginnings out of Melbourne, New Zealand and Nowra, GREG have vowed that they “might do something”, with THINK LESS being a true testament to that.

In a post to the band’s Instagram, Cregan wrote that he “wasn’t sure” whether he would continue to pursue music after making the decision to leave Skeggs in 2023, citing a desire to live a simpler, more wholesome life.

“I wasn’t sure if I was going to keep doing music, at least I was telling myself that,” he said. “I just needed a sec to be myself again and being in a band with Zar and Louie has got me to remember why I love doing it. Thanks for reminding me, lads.”

GREG exists to create music that feeds into nostalgia and sentiments of self-doubt, often mixing their own genres of “coward rock” and “pancake punk”. On THINK LESS, the band dive into life’s many conflicting dichotomies from their perspective as artists. Initially beginning as two separate tracks, THINK LESS organically formed itself into one, showcasing the push and pull of seeking out peace and solace while dealing with work frustrations.

“It’s a love song to my dog Blaze but also about a bully telling you what to do in a nasty way,” said Cregan. “I guess it’s about home life being nice but work life being fucked.”

Following their debut single release, GREG went on tour alongside Brisbane’s resident rockers Dune Rats for a 14-stop regional show tour for the band’s If It Sucks, Turn It Up tour. However, fans' thirst for more from GREG was promptly quenched as the band took to Port Macquarie’s Finnians Tavern for the Pay 2 Play Fundraiser in support of surfer Kai McKenzie on January 25th.

While we’re still very early into 2025, we hold no doubts that GREG will pop up onto our radar consistently throughout the year.
