"'Saviors' is an invitation into Green Day’s brain, their collective spirit as a band, and an understanding of friendship, culture and legacy of the last 30 plus years."

Green Day are here just in time for Halloween with their new music video.
The US punk rockers have kicked off their new album campaign looking – but certainly not sounding – like zombies in the music video for their new single, The American Dream Is Killing Me. The highly anticipated number is from their 14th album, Saviors, due for release on Friday, 19 January 2024, via Reprise/Warner Records.
In the single, Green Day pull no punches. Billie Joe Armstrong sounds as youthful and fired-up as ever, as do bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tré Cool. The black-and-white music video, depicting Green Day performing amid a zombie apocalypse, lends even more flavour to an already thrilling track. The film noir-inspired clip was directed by Brendan Walter and Ryan Baxley and shot in Los Angeles.
“As soon we cut it, we said, `Okay, that’s going first,’” Billie Joe Armstrong said about the new song, describing it as “a look at the way the traditional American Dream doesn’t work for a lot of people -- in fact, it’s hurting a lot of people.” You can check out the music video below.
Green Day premiered the new single for an ecstatic Las Vegas audience last weekend and signalled the beginning of what was to come. Saviors is available to pre-order now, with multiple vinyl variants hitting their official store.
There’s neon pink with neon green splatter and black ice with hot pink splatter, while the Australian store also contains a hot pink galaxy vinyl LP. A press release notes that most of the copies of vinyl have been pressed “in very limited supply and pressed only once”.

Saviors was produced by someone Green Day fans know well: Rob Cavallo, who produced the band’s iconic albums American Idiot and Dookie.
The new album follows the band’s recent 30th anniversary celebrations of Dookie, with a massive reissue now available on the Green Day website.
“Saviors is an invitation into Green Day’s brain, their collective spirit as a band, and an understanding of friendship, culture and legacy of the last 30 plus years,” Green Day wrote in a statement.
“It's raw and emotional. Funny and disturbing. It’s a laugh at the pain, weep in the happiness kind of record. Honesty and vulnerability. What is Saviors about, you ask?”
The statement continued, “Power pop, punk, rock, indie triumph. disease, war, inequality, influencers, yoga retreats, alt right, dating apps, masks, MENTAL HEALTH, climate change, oligarchs, social media division, free weed, fentanyl, fragility...
“What would Andy Warhol do? What would John Waters do? What would Quentin Tarantino do? What would GREEN DAY do?” At the end of the statement, Green Day teased that there’s more to come sooner than we think, and it’s coming on Thursday, 2 November.
You can pre-order your copy of Saviors here – with vinyl, CD and bundle options now available.
