Golden Plains Announces 2023 Line-up

Golden Plains is making its much-awaited return in 2023 after two years of cancelled events.

Held from 11, 12, and 13 March 2023 at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre, Golden Plains will be led by Bikini Kill, Four Tet, Carly Rae Jepsen, Soul II Soul, and Mdou Moctar. The festival promises a long weekend in the great outdoors with an amazingly eclectic soundtrack.

Also on the line-up are Australian icons and up-and-comers, from a surf rock band, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, to art-pop act Methyl Ethel, to the keytar-wielding Yolŋu Elder Andrew Gurruwiwi Band, punk rockers Stiff Richards, psychedelic country artist Freya Josephine Hollick, rising rap star Mulalo, the captivating E Fishpool, and the ex-Cheap Trick cover band Delivery. More artists will be announced.

Golden Plains organiser Aunty Meredith shared the devastation of cancelling the 2022 edition of the festival by writing, "Despite all the will in the world, we can't make this Golden. I want to dearly thank everyone, from far and wide, that tried to help clear our path. The feeling is almost overwhelming and undeniably inspiring, and I'm immensely grateful. I also want to thank everybody who has sent messages throughout this long time apart.

The energy that came our way to turn Golden Plains on has tripled our resolve for a very special 30th Meredith next December, and a very golden GP XV after that.

For now, I'm looking forward to a little bit of rest and recovery, some time to lament, and to enjoy the things that Summer brings, as we again set controls for the heart of the Supernatural."

The 2020 festival, which happened just in time, was packed with highlights that The Music was lucky to experience, none more remarkable than everyone having their own unique experience - "it's truly a melting pot of every type of person imaginable. From the joggers who packed their running gear for a 7 am jaunt around the campsite to the feather-clad partiers heading to bed at the same time, to those who never went to bed at all. Parents bring their kids, older kids bring their older parents, and every one in between comes along for the ride. It's a big old love-in where everyone is here to have a good time, not to cause trouble, and to have a bit of bloody respect for the people around them."
